Summary:

The Vice President of Accounting Shared Services will lead Wealthspire’s end-to-end client billing, cash application, and variable compensation administration across Private Client, Institutional, Proprietary Funds, and Business Management Services.

This role ensures the accurate, timely, and well-controlled execution of billing, cash collection, and variable compensation processes, while building scalable capabilities to support a rapidly growing, private equity-backed wealth advisory platform. The position oversees multiple systems and data sources, drives standardization across acquired entities, and partners closely with Operations, Finance, Payroll, HR, and IT to ensure accuracy, auditability, and alignment with GAAP and internal reporting requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Client Billing & Order-to-Cash Execution

  • Execute end-to-end client billing based on fee schedules / contracts (AUM or AUA value base, fixed fee, hourly, retainer, etc.), methodologies, and operational inputs
  • Maintain billing calendars, controls, review procedures, and documentation
  •  Oversee cash application and reconciliation across recordkeepers/custodians, carriers, and payment channels
  • Own AR controls, unapplied cash analysis, fee adjustments, and resolution of timing differences
  • Reconcile billed revenue to cash and the general ledger in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting standards
  • Coordinate accounting execution for client onboarding and offboarding, including billing configuration, reconciliation of opening and closing balances, and validation of compensation-related inputs.
  • Design and implement scalable reconciliation processes with clear exception reporting and escalation controls.

Systems, Process Improvement & M&A Integration

  • Serve as the Accounting business owner for billing, cash application, AR, and variable compensation data flows across core systems, including Workday (ERP), Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics, Billport, Tamarac, Addepar, Harmony, and BigTime
  • Oversee data integrity, system handoffs, and reconciliations supporting AUM/A-based and non-AUM/A-based billing, cash application, and downstream compensation processes
  • Drive integration, automation, and standardization across systems and workflows to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and support scalable shared-services operations
  • Partner with IT, Finance, and external vendors to enhance system capabilities, controls, and ongoing data quality
  • Lead integration of acquired firms into centralized billing, cash, and compensation processes, including assessment of legacy systems, data quality, and controls
  • Document and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls to support audit readiness and consistent execution across business units
  • Ensure a consistent and controlled client billing experience across the platform while accommodating business-specific requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in revenue accounting operations, billing, or accounting, preferably within:
  • Wealth management (RIA)
  • Asset management
  • Financial services platform environments
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-system billing environments
  • Deep understanding of:
    • AUM/AUA-based fee billing
    • Cash application and reconciliation processes
    • Revenue recognition principles
    • Variable or incentive compensation administration tied to billing and revenue outputs
  • Experience in private equity-backed and/or M&A-driven organizations strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, process design, and cross-functional collaboration skills

What We Offer:

Wealthspire is proud to offer a competitive salary, PTO & paid holidays, 401(k) with match, and more. The base salary range for this position is $120,000 –$190,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
