About the Position

This is not a fine arts or IT programs design role.

The ideal candidate will provide Case Design support to financial professionals, adding value through advanced product knowledge, generating quotes, and creating illustrations. They will conduct additional fact-finding to thoroughly evaluate client needs, providing comprehensive support to agents. Additionally, the candidate will equip advisors with detailed illustrations and training to help secure sales.

We offer a hybrid work schedule from our Minneapolis, MN office, with the possibility of a fully remote schedule for experienced candidates. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time. A confidential and uninterrupted workspace is required for remote work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide case design assistance via phone consultation. Differentiate from our competitors by delivering a creative, customized solution that considers plan objectives, known health history, special funding alternatives, information about competition and carrier-specific strengths, etc. Utilize a wide degree of creativity and latitude to analyze and make independent decisions for each case and client; provide conclusions based on this analysis.
  • Begin the process of evaluating insurability, match the proposed insured with carriers and products that best suit stated client objectives, provide original solutions and alternatives, and identify circumstances under which each might be a best recommendation. When appropriate, provide a set of alternative illustrations to enhance the quality of the solutions provided.
  • Document each interaction in the CRM system, complete follow-up activity on each case. Recognize new opportunities and initiate actions to capitalize on them.
  • Complete proactive calls to follow-up on meaningful revenue opportunities.  Reach out to top advisors with information and advice. Seek new and productive way to make an impact on the advisor’s business.
  • Act as an effective team player who adds complementary skills and contributes valuable ideas, opinions and feedback that will benefit the Case Design Team.
  • Attend carrier meetings, participate in conference calls/webinars, and collaborate with fellow Case Designers while supporting other channels to remain current with carrier and industry changes.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

  • Thorough knowledge of life insurance products, planning techniques, illustration systems and CRM systems.
  • Strong ability to act as internal sales for retail life products in key accounts, partnering at times with our external sales team.
  • Skilled at spotting elements of the case that require special attention and could sway the advisor to a solution that wouldn’t otherwise have been obvious.
  • Industry experience to speak the language of the advisor and understand competitive landscape and product specifics.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a strong understanding of DBS, our advisors, the products, services and approaches. Nurture strong relationships with clients both internal and external, vendors and industry organization, as well as continue to expand the sphere of influence with DBS and the industry.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent required; additional education or training preferred. 
  • Extensive experience providing sales desk support to agents in either a BGA or Home Office environment.
  • Life Insurance knowledge, preferably in a Case Design role or brokerage agency setting. Personal sales experience is not required but valuable. 
  • Experience with Winflex Web, Ensight, and Salesforce preferred.  
  • Microsoft Office Suite required. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

    • Life & Health License preferred or able to obtain within 90 days of hire.

The base salary range for this position is $64,000 to $80,000.  The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
