Job Summary:
The Account Manager II is responsible for working with Producers and Directors to service client accounts. The position requires day to day client servicing for a specific set of clients and entails a great deal of verbal, electronic and other written communications. The Account Manager II will research, analyze and evaluate medical, life, disability and other benefit plans and act as a benefit advisor to clients. At this level, an Account Manager II will lead open enrollment presentations and take an active role in client meetings. Work is completed with a significant amount of independent discretion. While in this role, this person should be developing relationships with clients and carrier contacts and working proactively to effectively and efficiently deliver services to clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and send requests for proposals to applicable insurance carriers and work with Account Coordinators to spreadsheet results as they come in.
- Takes the lead on reviewing contracts, benefit plan summaries, and carrier source documents for accuracy.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with clients; Act as the subject matter expert on Health & Welfare Benefits and vendor/carrier products and services.
- Uses online carrier tools to develop quotations, prepare, pre-renewal information and update client proposal tables. Understand and articulate alternative funding strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, companies and clients.
- Maintain relationships with carrier representatives in order to better understand available products and services in the marketplace and recommend them to clients.
- Review & analyze requests for proposals and insurance plan designs, negotiate with carriers and recommend renewal actions.
- Work with Directors to develop and execute client strategy plan and defined deliverables.
- Execute open enrollment process for clients; Review employee presentations and communication materials.
- Conduct and present annual client compliance reviews.
- Work with Account Coordinators to update benefit guides, ensure client resources and communications are up to date following open enrollment or coverage change.
- Attend to client requests including product or vendor service or performance challenges.
- Ensure all client data is entered into agency management system in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned and consistently makes independent judgments subject to general supervisor support.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
- Knowledge of benefits administration, Health Care Reform, industry trends, carrier products and services
- Ability to work independently and anticipate client and team needs
- Effective time management and decision making skills
- Diligent follow up skills
- Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Commanding presentation and public speaking abilities
Education and/or Experience:
- BA/BS preferred
- More than 3 years’ client service and/or industry and product line experience
Certificates, Licenses, Registration:
- Life, Accident and Health Insurance License required.

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
