Summary of the Role: The Underwriting Assistant provides vital support to underwriters by managing administrative tasks, gathering and reviewing application data, and ensuring documentation is accurate and complete. Responsibilities include preparing risk assessments, maintaining records, and assisting in the evaluation of policy renewals. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support new and renewal underwriting tasks for stop loss underwriting
- Download Requests for Proposal (RFP) from email daily
- Review RFP documentation to ensure that required information is received
- Input information into underwriting database
- Create and organize electronic files
- Rework census data in Excel and input census information into underwriting system
- Check the file for accuracy and completeness and route it to the appropriate Senior Underwriting Assistant in a timely manner.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel – Intermediate level
- Strong math aptitude and analytical skills
- Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
- Devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty or integrity
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors’ Degree, Finance or Accounting preferred or relative experience
- Ability to work independently but also support a team environment

The base salary range for this position is $45,000 to $57,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
